I truly admire your commitment to scaling back and doing less. It can be SO HARD to let things go. Especially when you have found meaning in them in the past. It’s interesting that you have released yourself from creative challenges. I’ve been considering that possibility myself, but haven’t made any final decisions. I’m wondering where my creative work would go if I didn’t have the distraction of the challenges - which I love!! I’ll be curious to hear how things are going for you. And you’re so smart to prioritize family time with your boys right now. The time goes so fast.

It really can feel so hard Jen, to let go. I get that. I don't know when the creative challenges got out of hand for me but they did! I do find such value and community in them (most of the time) so I think what I have to do is have one *maybe* two but just no more than that. I realized it was the only thing I was working on and it felt more like busting out work than making work I need to make! We might have to chat about this!

Yes happiness is everything. If it wasn’t making you happy, it’s good to stop doing it. And it sounds like that’s what you’re doing! Everyone deserves peace and time and joy. Rushing and busyness is overrated and life is about love and beauty and happiness and that’s all. I support all of it! PS get some chickens!!! 🐓🤣 I might have them someday too! xoxo

I appreciate your note Libby, so wonderful to hear from you and sounds like you totally get it. Right on! May we both have chickens one day!🤣 Although when my sister went to order hers (like she did last year) they were completely sold out! I guess with egg prices so high everyone is putting in a backyard coop!

Wow, way to go! That’s so many huge, smart changes. I recently did a small thing that feels big by unsubscribing to most of the non personal emails I get as an attempt to get out of the consumer mindset and only spend money on essentials. It also has the bonus effect of making checking my email feel less chaotic.

I’m so glad you’re making space and finding time to chill. And glad you’re getting more help at home. Thank you for your work with Wilder- even if you’re not continuing it, I’m glad to know you’re out there living your life authentically.

Serra, I'm so glad you left this note. I laugh to myself that I didn't even think about email yet.. I do get so many urgent emails like that and I really want to focus on essentials as well. I'll take this tip and put awareness there this week!

It's a work in progress for sure but always inspired by similar journeys!

It really does feel like a delicate balance. I love being connected but how much is too much. I guess it really has to be intuitive, taking breaks when needed and not giving more than we have to give.

Thank you for your note here.. and that's true about the chickens! My sister lives down the road so I'd put her in charge when we leave, lol! A big commitment and right now, they are sold out everywhere here so I don't need to worry about it too much!

I was just writing today about the longing I feel often for the time before the internet and smartphones. It's like a powerful act of rebellion to walk away from the things that demand our attention...so congratulations!

It's inspiring to read details behind the shifts and tweaks, and I'm so happy for you to have more space to absorb this beautiful life. You're filtering out everything that's not totally needed so you can truly be in the moment with what's most valuable and vital to you.

Also- I'm with you on feeling oversaturated with challenges! They are such a great tool when they are, but if it's not the right time the whole vibe changes drastically!

Thank you so much for your note here Jill.. that's it too. So many things demand our attention and I think it happens slowly.. one little bit at a time and all of a sudden it's like what is going on here!

Sharing here is such a big reminder that I'm not alone. I'd be curious to dig into the challenge topic when we talk next... it is such a valuable tool but can definitely be consuming too. Sigh.. the balance! The balance! :D
