I love helping people pick paint colors! But I would have to know the color of your kitchen cabinets and colors in the adjoining rooms in order to make it flow with the rest of your house 😊
I don't know why I didn't think to reach out to you two initially! Right after I got Jen's comment I texted her a picture of my home, she sent options and I picked one. LOL This right here is the power of online community. Grateful!
Thank you Jen for your help! I went with Sea Salt and now I'm just looking in my calendar to find a day that I can actually get ripping on the project. I'm *so excited* and I'm so glad I asked! :D
The only art I feel like I can make when I'm angry is mark-making with ink lines. The immediacy and freedom to work quickly works for me!
Nostalgia must be in the air, because I threw a bunch of 80's tunes on my Spotify liked songs yesterday. Can't wait to hear yours.
As far as a paint color- I did paint color consulting for years before full time art. Greens are tricky but can be so perfect for a space when you find the right shade.
Finally- thanks for sharing your daily sketchbook creations for the May challenge. Love, love, love them and daily practice is transformative!
Thank you for dropping in and sharing Jill, mark making sounds a lot more doable than trying to "make art" -- just getting something out onto the page.
Nostalgia is in the air for sure! I just can't believe I didn't reach out right away about the paint. I sent the email, Jen texted me some options, I picked one and bought it less than 24 hours after sending. Now.. to find time to do the project, lol!
Really enjoying creating for CEDIM, perfect pace and container. Thank you for all you're doing for it, awesome job!
It's so hard Cait! It was easy when I was just going neutral but I needed to have some variation! I love the idea of using a darker green for a small space.. I went lighter with Jen's help! Can't wait to paint! :D
I'm inclined to walk off my anger, I really don't think I could make art with it. Like you said, it feels electric--too distracting and weird. Better to let it rise and fall on its own. Loud music would probably help! I'm sure my son could give me some metal core suggestions :-) I like your playlist very much. Was just listening to Natalie Merchant's "Carnival" i love that one. For greens: my husband's office is SW Dark Hunter Green. Very dramatic color. And I have painted a wall green in my office (a corner of our kitchen) that's closest to "rockwood jade."
Ann, I appreciate your comment here, thank you. You're so right, it does feel distracting! That's the perfect word. Let it rise and fall on its own. Yes!
I remember my dad buying my mom "Carnival" for Mother's Day or her birthday after it came out.. such a good album with such nostalgic memories!
Thank you for jumping in with colors, oh how I'd love to do a small space or even a wall a darker green! Brave!
Thanks for sharing so honestly 🩷 I’m sort of the opposite and create better when I have heavy emotions to process. And I think the key is to put out of your mind completely how anything looks (at first). Get the raw emotions out in visual form and make it pretty later. Don’t second guess, just do, and there’s no wrong or right when you’re releasing. If that feels too hard, try telling yourself that you don’t have to show anyone what you’re about to make. It’s just for you. And even that is scary I know! But it helps to get the flow moving. Good luck!
It's so interesting to me to see all of the varying opinions and degrees in which we create. Another reason to love artists! :D
There is a great possibility that I am bringing perfectionism to the table too and that could be why.. sketchbook and freedom! I'll try that next time! Thanks for the note Libby!
An art teacher once told me "there is no angst in my art", I told her "it was because I have learned how to let that go and I'm sticking with that in my life". Its a choice - when to use it or let it go and a grace to know when it can benefit your growth. Still like the Buffalo Springfield version of the Stevie Nicks song....but that's my age bias.... I enjoyed the read....

Was just going to say the same thing, Jen- ha- our design brains kicking back in!
